Portraits

Some words from Katie about the painting:
I commisioned this talented young artist who currently resides in Israel to create a piece of art. The challenge being it was not a scenery, place, or from a photograh. It was from a vision in my head that I wanted her to translate onto canvas. She was able to create a piece that exceeded all of my expectations!
While she was visiting Florida I was able to meet with her to discuss what I envisioned in my head and other intimate details I wanted incoporated into the painting. She was so attentive and compassionate as she listened and thankfully agreed to take the project on. I knew when we were finished she was the perfect person for this project and had the emotional depth combined with incredible talent to create something amazing for me. Never, ever did I expect this. She exceeded all of my expectations and crated something I will always cherish!
As many of you know we lost my daughter Courtney almost 3 years ago. So many times I stare at my front door and imagine what it would be like for her to walk through it. I do not wish for her to be back in this world but we miss her terribly and can't help but longing to see her again. I shared a song with Rachel I found on a playlist of C's that I listen to frequently that makes me feel closer to her. The song is Saturn by Sleeping At Last. Hidden within the wallpaper banner are the lyrics to the song. The little dog was Courtney's who is still with me. The 2 figures are Kasey (sister) and I. In the rings of Saturn are 3 figures which are the 3 of us together again. The photo's in the foyer are actual family photo's. There are so many special things incorporated into this work of art. I feel like I have a vision of what Courtney's new life is like and it brings me much peace.
